"We had a 'going away' party yesterday for a lady at our Little Rock claim office. One of the supervisors called a Wal-Mart and ordered the cake. He told them to write:
'best wishes Suzanne' and underneath that 'we will miss you'. here's the cake that was delivered."
I think Wal-Mart "takes the cake" on this one (pun intended haha).

Krumpers Wanted
Ug...
Does anyone know some code (either XML or ActionScript) that will size pictures as you load them into a container? I'm just wondering if there's an easier way to do this than going into Photoshop and sizing 'em and stuff. We're doing a wedding site for one of our co-workers and we're trying to figure out the fastest, most efficient way to build a gallery.
Thx team :)

Ha Ha
Well, y'all know how good I was (cough) at web stuff in school. I've been doin' tons at my new job, so it's been good to wet my palette (or something like that). We've posted the sites on the back-end of our site, so you should check 'em out.

We should have UFO's site up by tmw (cross your fingers...it's been a nightmare of a project), so I'll send the link when that's done.
Glad to hear everyone's so successful right now.
Anyone up for a group dinner over Christmas?

Layne is in the house
Greetings all. Layne here. I'm a fellow USU-educated designer. I went to Switzerland with Nate and Spence and took a class or two from the illustrious Mr. Smellie. I hope I'm not too late to the party, but I wanted to pop in and hollar at the peeps. I know that being a print-guy alienates me a bit, as most of you seem to be more interactive-types. But, I'm hoping we can learn to get our blog-on in harmony.
Anyway, back to what prompted this post. I know of an opening in Logan for a designer. It's for packaging, pop, some front-end web support, print ads and photography (nothing too elaborate, mostly product photos). Due to the lack of designers in the valley, it pays well also. Either leave a comment, or email me: layne.turner {at}gmail.com with any leads. Thanks.
p.s. Is it just me or is there a major designer shortage around here? Is it that way in Salt Lake too?

I Need A Programer
Hey Guys,
We are working on a redesign of our website and I need a programer that can help us build it. Know any programers looking for a couple thousand dollars?

Maybe this won't appeal that much to you graduates, but Red Interactive is coming up to Logan tomorrow Nov 15, for the seminar class. Even if you're already rolling with some other professional firm, come scope out the competition then. They've made some pretty amazing stuff.

anyone going tonight
freelance opportunity
Hey guys, I have gotten way busy all of the sudden, and can't keep up with my freelance work. Im in the process of making 25-45 second flash slideshows, and could use a hand. Overall they are pretty lo-fi, just basic tweens, fades, etc.
Pay is 80 bucks per video, so if youre fast, you can make good money. Most of them take me 3-4 hours, most of which consists of me trying to figure out stupid stuff that i cant remember. If you're faster than me, which you probably are, you can make pretty good money off them. The concepts and copy are already written, and you get paid back for any stock photos that you might need (i just use istockphoto). They must be done in AS2, and you can't use fuse/zigo, because i have to bring them back into flash 8 and export them as quicktime. I'm pretty sure you can use tween class though.
Let me know if there are any takers, the deadline on these is the next couple weeks, but i can submit them one at a time.

PS- Kristina and I just found out we're having twins!

The Golden Compass
Well, nobody has posted any work yet, so I guess I'll get it started haha.
So my work has a christmas party every year where they rent out a theater and invite all our clients to go with us to see a movie. Every year we make a dope online invitation/RSVP for it and send it to the clients. So anyway, this year we're going to see The Golden Compass and they put me in charge of this project and I'm pretty stoked on how it turned out...so stoked I thought I would share even. Unfortunately you're not all really invited to the movie haha. Click on the image below to check it out:
